MCREST

The Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team (MCREST) was founded to provide temporary emergency shelter for alcohol and drug-free homeless men, women, and children in Macomb County.  MCREST is a group of participating congregations who agree to open their facilities and their hearts to the homeless for one week per year.  A MCREST congregation provides a safe, clean environment from 6:00 p.m. each evening to 8:00 a.m. each morning.  Three meals per day, along with showers are provided, as well as transportation needs as resources are available to each congregation.

 

Organization

 

MCREST membership is comprised of participating Churches.  The organization is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by membership representatives at the annual meeting.  Board members are elected for a three-year term.  The Board of Directors elects the officers of the Executive Committee annually at their June meeting.  Day to day operation is performed by a compensated staff comprised of an Executive Director, Program Information Specialist, Case Manager, and Caseworkers
